About Me and Disclaimer
Hi there! You’ve probably stumbled upon my site by freak accident, but since you’re here, let me introduce myself. I’m Jonny and this is my site, Jonny’s Jiu-Jitsu. You’re probably asking yourself, “why do I care about your site or who you are?” The answer’s simple. You shouldn’t. I’m not important. I’ll be honest, I don’t think my site is important… to you! I created this as a personal journal for myself. To track my progress and maybe help digest my own personal thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu. I find it helps to put thoughts into words. Completing the thought, if you will.
With that said, I also want to make clear that I am far from any kind of expert. I know very, very little about the Gentle Art. I am not an Instructor or Professor. I am a basic practitioner, an amateur, a novice. Most importantly, I’m a student. If you can learn something from the lessons I put up here, great! Please understand, these are lessons I’ve learned, not lessons I’m trying to teach. Any type of technique or theory you find here is not uniquely mine. Odds are it’s something I’ve managed to piece together from men and women who are much more passionate and precise than I will ever be.
I’m a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Blue Belt under Gracie University. Yes, the online Jiu-Jitsu school. “Why not a traditional BJJ gym?” The easy answer is that I move too much. I’ve served in the military since 2003 and in that time I’ve moved 9 times. It’s hard to find time to allocate to one specific school in one location. It’s just as hard to find a school that understands why I’m gone so much and is willing to “invest” a belt rank and school name behind me.
I currently train in Whidbey Island, WA at Chimera MMA.
Legal stuff: Don’t do anything you see on this site. I am in no way responsible for you getting a bloody nose. If you do decide to do something stupid that you’ve seen me do, it’s your own fault and you’ve done it at your own risk.
